Ascent Trip Report

Found the Upper Parking lot of Pebble Creek Ski area and told the mechanics working on the cats in the garage my intention. They gave me some advice and bid me well. I left at 10:00 AM and summitted at 11:40 AM. I bushwhacked under the ski lifts for a while and then decided to take the milder meandering path of the cat trails which were plenty steep enough. I began having trouble breathing at around 7500 feet and by 8500 feet I could tell my Florida lungs were in for some adaption. Once I found the upper lift station I headed south and looked for a nice line to the true peak. Just above the ski lifts is a feature that the ski lodge calls Skyline Peak. It has essentially no prominence just a bump on the ridge but what makes it interesting is that it faces the ski area with a lot of fun scrambling and tall faces where Bonneville is more of a rounder gentler climb.

The bushwhack was a lot of conifers and talus. I found the conifers were easier to navigate and more quicker than the teetering talus. Snow was observed at around 9,000 feet on this face. Once finding the Cairns and enjoying the views I found myself being drawn to the shorter nearby peak - Snow Peak which was littered with shale and had some interesting snow masses in the ravines and I could not disuade myself from making this a ridge circuit.

In all I tagged three peaks and Bonneville twice and gained nearly 3,800 feet and completed the day in 4 hours and 5 minutes.
