Ascent Trip Report

With weather conditions notoriously fickle I had low expectations for summiting. At 11:30 pm when I poked my head outside the sky looked clear with practically no wind. I wasn’t feeling well, so eating two cookies was about all I could manage. We left high camp and proceeded just under some rocky cliffs until making it out onto the ridge. From there it was a straightforward climb up the ridge, which kept going and going. When topped out on the Veintimilla peak with the sun rising behind the main summit. We gained the summit under clear skies surrounded by the volcanoes of Ecuador, a sight I won’t soon forget!
