Ascent Trip ReportGoogle maps shows the TH is 23 minutes and 13 miles by paved road from exit 172 off I5. This is about 40 miles NW of Los Angeles. There is limited parking by a locked gate at 34.55948, -118.49263. Easy walk on closed road to HP. Several beehives were just south of road at 34.55865, -118.48938. Did not shortcut the large bend in the road because of brush and the steep slope on the south side of the canyon. The shooting range about 1/2 mile west of the TH was certainly a popular place this Sunday morning. Left a small register in a small cairn in the general vicinity of the Dam HP.
Peakbagger has this at 34.55309, -118.49442 at the time of my visit.
This is on a large area of fairly level manmade fill located west of the road. There is a berm about a foot or two high on the west edge of this fill, and I walked the berm in addition to tagging the PB location. |
