Ascent Trip ReportDrove from Melrose up a steep, sealed road to the obelisk. The car park is small so I can imagine it filling up. In which case you'll have to park in or near the caravan park, I suppose.
Hiked up to the summit via the Southern Trail, then down via the Northern trail. There's a small clearing on the summit, but trees block your views. A lookout tower like on Mount Brown would be awesome. :) There are also some elevated platforms where you can sit up away from the termites.
Though I saw a lot of people at the trailhead area, I guess they were all headed for the Melrose Nature Hike trail. Because I only saw one other person up on the mountain. |
