Ascent Trip ReportPublic. Road the TH is good for most vehicles. Trail to the summit. Overall, pretty quick ascent. This one felt like a bit of a coup since this TH is not normally accessible this late in the year so I had to take advantage of the favorable snow levels for a December P2K. No meaningful snow on the peak but that won't last long. Weather was dry to start but very windy in gusts. Once on the trail the wind abated until I got higher up and then strong winds again. Near whiteout conditions and at first wetness from the condensation and then a cursory drizzle. Was glad to be back safely at the car without incident because with a 36 degree temp, 50 mph winds and a bit of light precipitation it took only 15 minutes before my hands went numb while packing up at the car. Bobby even jumped in the car, which he hates riding in the car, without prodding which he doesn't normally do. |
