Ascent Trip Report

Solo. Parked on Rt.47 trailhead parking at the hairpin. Up and back in ~4hours. Trail was rough, very rocky, no view as the weekend was rainy. 50-100 ft visibility all the way up the trail and back, not much rain, windy mostly and cloudy misty which contributed to "Woods Rain" where the mist collects on the leaves and drips down. Wore a light synth MH blue T shirt with the rain slicker over top. Carried roughly 10lbs of gear, no camera. Saw 3 parties this day, a group of 3 males camping on Giants ledge and trail running from Panther, a group of about 8 on summit and a single female hiker waiting for her party on summit. The scent along Giants ledge was great, a sweet flower smell which came from what appeared to be Pink Honey Suckle. A quiet day because of the rain. Rain moved in during dinner at The-Inn-Between in Margaretville where I watched the Encore presentation of the Day's NY Yankee game.
