Ascent Trip Report

Wonderful climb following a few days on the Pacific Crest Trail through the Goat Rocks Wilderness. Drove up and stayed the night at Cold Springs Camp. Was up at 5:30 and hiking just before 6. Saw the sunrise as we climbed up the South Climb Trail #183 just past the Round the Mountain Trail #9. The morning sun on Hood and St. Helens was stunning. Climbing up the Cresent Glacier was tough work but worth it and my new in-step crampons worked great! Peaked a little before noon. Then we got to glisade down LONG stretches. It is the most fun I have ever had glisading, even though my hands got a little cut up when I started going to fast a couple of times.
