Ascent Trip ReportParked at the Herman Gulch TH and headed up trail toward the lake. I left the trail at the east shore of Herman Lake and climbed up the rock slide at the north end. There is a bit of social trail and a few cairns that mark the way up toward Pettingell. I took a line just north of west and aimed for the saddle southwest of Pettingell's summit. This allowed me to avoid some of the worst loose talus on the upper slopes. I detoured to scramble onto Point 13418, a short but very exposed 2+ move. I then ran the ridge up to Pettingell and took in the views. Descent was straightforward and quick. |
