Ascent Trip Report

Took the easy way up (using the cable car), but this allowed the party to explore the entire massif, including two Herodian palaces, several other fortifications, a cool spot along the southern rim with a haunting echo and the ruins of the old synagogue and zealot's quarters. Lena and I earned our "ascent" by descending via the Snake Path for half an hour in the blazing Yom Ha-Atzma'ut sun, while Nata (though still quite the trooper at age 77) took the cable car back down to the visitor center.
