Ascent Trip Report

GPS track is driving the toll road which claims to be the longest privately owned toll road in the US up to Equinox Mountain at 3840 feet which is the Bennington County high point.
I paid the $20 + $5 additional/person and got some VT maple syrup gifts for back home. I drove the 5.2 mile road. You cannot walk the road at anytime at least what the sign says. I was doing lot of hard hiking on this long trip so not ashamed to save my legs and knees. Outstanding views at the top. Nice new 'Saint Bruno Scenic Viewing Center' built in 2012 give history of the top, a small chapel, history of the Order of Carthusians, and viewing platform. PB has the highpoint marked in the middle of the parking lot but there is a slight rise opposite of the building up a gravel road near some small towers. I wandered behind the main building to the hiking paths. I only recall they requested a donation from the hikers to help maintain the trails. Enjoyable short visit.
