Ascent Trip Report

Visited Burley Hill-West slope at 1313' which is a CT planning region HP plus nearby Burley Hill at 1321' main peak which is a EPIC isolation peak, Drainage basin HP, CT Pseudo-County HP. It's all very confusing so just visit both HP's which are yards apart.

It's an obscure peak location within the thick, rocky woods so finding both a 'sloped point' and the Burley Hill 'peak' can be a little challenging at least in the summer time.

The New City Rd is a wide newly paved road so parking is available at multiple points. It was rain fairly hard due to tropical depression Ida so I took my chances parking close at the farming road entrance/snowmobile road here: 42.01985,-72.21642. It's wide enough not to block gate.

For simplicity, the 0.6 mile trip is broken up into thirds: a 1/3 of the hike is on the wood road, 1/3 in two open alfalfa grass farm fields, last 1/3 on an atv road track within yards of the high points. I say high points because one is the county planning region on a west slope and one is the actual main peak for EPIC and Drainage basin goals.

Not a fan of sloped high points are it's impossible to find county line and high ground to match. Depending on what map you look at it the county line and HP is either where I left the atv road here 42.017338,-72.209595 or a high rock here 42.017124, -72.209335 or a point between the two locations. Stomp around until satisfied. The woods are fairly thick here.

I declared my Burley Hill peak here: 42.016766,-72.20886 which is very close to the PB marking.
