Ascent Trip Report

EDIT: Laurel Lakes Road is closed as of July 24, 2021: Expect a 14.6 mile hike from the intersection of Sherwin Creek Road and Laurel Lakes Road. Check road conditions here:

"Recent heavy rain has washed out Laurel Lakes Road 28E201 south of Sherwin Creek Road near Mammoth Lakes. This road is impassible and the public is asked to refrain driving on the road until repairs are made."

Laurel Lakes Road to the trailhead is class 1 for dogs but class 4 for cars D: We walked from the intersection of Sherwin Creek road and took 1.5 hours to get to the actual trailhead. I have heard it takes 1 hour to drive it.

Exposed hike with no running water so we waited for a cloudy day and were very glad we did. Moody overcast views from the top were awesome, feels like you could see into town. Good for dogs!
