Ascent Trip Report

Saw 10 deer and one striped skunk on trip.
Left house at 5 AM started hike at 6AM.
Parked at Ranger station and waited for light. Walked down to Watoga lake to touch the water and start at a known elevation that was as low as I could find on the topo map.

The paved road had no traffic and the views near the top were the best of any hike on this trip because they took the time to actually clear the bluffs in areas and provide a nice view. The newly paved parking area to the Ann Bailey Tower trail (3 more miles down trail)looked interesting but i had no more time before leaving to catch my flight and I found the true summit and got my vertical in. The summit is not at the parking area but is a short distance from the parking area. Made for a nice "road hike".
