Ascent Trip Report

Note this track is for the climb up No 4 mountain then the bushwhack up the true peak of Lily Bay Mtn which is the taller more prominent east peak not the west. We started a new track to go over to Baker as part of this trip. All stats to climb number 4 are included in this since you have to climb Number 4 Mountain to get to the easiest place to bushwhack.

The bushwhack up Lily Bay is difficult. Many places the fir trees are less than 12 inches apart and one must kick down the dead ones and part the sees. Chuck and I got scratched but proceeded up the mountain from the saddle. About 0.8 mile RT but rough going up the 500 to 600 foot climb. You essentially climb the prominence. Near the top a short blow down. At the summit, a jar hanging from the tree. No-one had signed it since 2019 (2 years ago!)

One of the people in the notebook in the jar was Christopher Keene who has written North Wood Walks the local handbook of climbing the peaks of the north woods of Maine.
