Solo trip. Out and back from Lincoln Gap to Mount Ellen. Started at the Lincoln Gap Long Trail Trailhead which is approximately 2400 ft elevation. Hiked up to Mount Abraham and then onto Mount Ellen covering other peaks along the way. Total trip involved the following:
Nancy Hanks Peak
Then retraced steps back to starting trailhead
Weather was great. Cool to start and cool the rest of the day. A nice break from the often warm temps in summer.
The trail was well maintained generally with most of the technical areas between the trailhead and Mount Abraham. One thing to note is the ridge section between Mount Abraham and Mount Ellen had alot of mud. Hard to avoid at times. Passed alot of hikers today all along the way. Saw a lot of Long Trail thru hikers and chatted with some at the ski lift just north of Mount Ellen. Overall a great day and hike.
