Ascent Trip Report

We were in the big crater they day before in a heavy rain and made a decision to skip the climb. Some snow higher up.
New Years Eve and an alpine start in the car from Santa Cruz. Parked along the road and set off. Met a guy coming down that said that the trail was icy from above the hut at some 2800 m. We continued higher and stopped to get the crampons on. The top of the mountain was glaced and we were lucky with the poles and the crampons. It was beautiful with the transparent ice. The cable car didn't run so we saw very few others on the mountain. Less that 15 in total is my estimate. Nice sunny day on the highest peak in Spain.
