Ascent Trip ReportFor the fourth of July weekend, we decided to get the dog away from the fireworks and spend some time in the beautiful Elkhorn mountains. I figured along the way it'd be nice to make some progress on the Oregon 100 highest list, and settled on Elkhorn Peak as the most logical destination. As you can see from the track, we parked at the lower parking area and took the alternate trail, which is decent in quality but has some trees down across it.
It was a very hot day and our pup was having trouble with the heat of the trail, so she and my wife stayed at Twin Lakes while my friend and I climbed Elkhorn, which is an easy, unexposed scramble via the route we took. |
