Ascent Trip Report

Headed back from Rabbit starting a little after 1:15 pm and made our way steadily back to Villager. Easy to navigate - given the fact that we were walking on a ridgeline. BEAUTIFUL and expansive views of surrounding mountains and areas - but careful progress all the way back - great pace! Were on the summit of Villager Peak a little after 3:15 pm. Had a 10 minute break to change socks and grab something to eat (the water we stashed at the register), resigned the register, and then made our way back down the 7 miles to the parked car and TH. The sun set right around 5:15 - but we had about another 30 minutes of useable light until we turned on the headlamps and were forced to slow down the pace for the final 1800 feet of descent. The KEY was to be below the 3000 foot sheer drop offs - and we were! GREAT hike - back to the car in just under 13 hours. Great hike and comfortable pace throughout - LONG and epic day... great wa to celebrate my birthday!
