Ascent of Trailmaster Peak on 2021-06-15
|Date:||Tuesday, June 15, 2021|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12336 ft / 3760 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis is a fun class 2 with some easy class 3 scramble to the summit from Cottonwood Pass via Horseshoe Meadows. Seems you can climb this peak from Chicken Springs Lake as well as South Fork Lakes - you could even stay on the ridge line from Cirque and bag this peak from New Army.
The wind was Gail force with gust well over 75mph. (I have been in extreme storms with 90mph+ winds). Sustained winds at 45-55mph making this climb even more of a challenge. There's about 4 false summits. Peak is the last high point. Wonderful views of Cirque Peak, Langley, New Army Pass, Cottonwood & South Fork Lakes, and of course, Mt. Whitney.
Peak #44 of 100.
There is a summit register at the top marked with a wooden long stick. Dates back to 2007.
