Ascent Trip Report

The first half of the drive in from I-8 is good road except for one deep sand patch that could stop 2wd vehicles. The second half is a little sandy but lots of washboard and rutting. Slept at road intersection / boundary of refuge. Had lots of contact with Border Patrol while driving and hiking. Found goat/sheep trails along right side of wash to be useful. Crossed the wash around 1700 ft and climbed slopes to the left.
Doctor at home told me I had minor fractures of one thumb and one finger after falling on this trip. I got chewed out for waiting two weeks to have it looked at.
