Ascent Trip Report

3rd attempt to climb Pikes Peak, first 2 were in the Spring and didn't get much past Barr Camp. This time I got up to about 1 1/2 miles from the summit and was going real slow then so realized that I wouldn't have time to summit and get back down before 10 pm or later so decided to turn back soon. After getting to snow covered trail I turned around a little bit sooner than planned, for which I was very glad. My legs were mush for the last couple miles of the descent and I was really tired by the time I got back to the trailhead. Next time I'll have to do it as a 2 or 3 day backpacking trip and camp somewhere near Barr Camp.

I also thought I was on the wrong trail at one point and ended up backtracking only to find out I was on the correct trail, adding about 1 1/2 miles to my ascent.

Distance is round trip
