Ascent Trip Report2nd winter ascent of Bandera for me. Hiked with two companions, each much more experienced than I, but since I knew the mountain, I played "guide". Trail was snowed over and had to follow a previous climber's boot path taking a completely different route (towards Mason Lake). Following that path to the ridgeline, we bushwacked most of the rest of the way to where the ridge opens up above a steep slope, then climbed through thick snow to the true summit. Used Ice axe on the way down, and broke a new trail on the return trip by coming strait down the open face. |
