Ascent Trip Report

Solo hike for my second time for this great hike in Zion National Park. The good news is that they have discontinued needing to reserve online to ride the shuttle. It was an attempt to control the huge demand for Zion. It didn’t work. I don’t know what the answer is for popular parks like Zion, Yellowstone, Yosemite, but shuttle reservations aren’t the answer. I was here two years ago and had no problem getting a shuttle. Today, I was there at 6:00 am and in line at 6:25. I had to wait 55 minutes before getting on the shuttle. Likewise on the hike, the last half mile is on a narrow ridge and you have to use the chains they put in. The queue to do the last ½ mile reminded me of pictures they show of Everest on summit day. But it worth the wait to get to the summit.
