Ascent Trip Report

We ascended to Castle Craig (Hanging Hills East Peak) via the New England Trail from Chamberlain Highway. Our hike took place after 2 days of moderate to heavy rain. Needless to say, the streams were flowing with vigor, and new ones appeared where there were usually none. It was difficult to avoid getting wet on the lower portions of the trail. The humidity was also moderately high. There was a persistent drizzle with a slight breeze while we were at the Castle, and this made it uncomfortable to remain in the tower for long. We ate our snacks sitting on rocks under a nearby tree. The drizzle subsided and we descended via the "Peak Road" then rejoined the New England Trail back to our vehicle.
