Ascent Trip Report

Hiked from NF 091. This road is cut into a steep hillside for most of its length and is currently an easy drive for a high clearance vehicle. Lower clearance vehicles will have to clear rocks and branches that have fallen from the hillside. One spot on the road is being undermined by erosion and debris from above is gradually piling up. The forest service has listed this road as unmaintained but open so it may not be open in the future.
The road is bermed near the end and there is a wide turn around spot. The brush between the road and the parallel trail is steep and awful but fortunately there is a link. About 200 ft beyond the berm, look for steps cut into the dirt slope. Climb over the top of the bank to find the trail on the other side. This trail is not seeing a lot of traffic but it is easy to follow. As it nears the summit area, the trail enters a beautiful forest. Watch for a spur trail that goes up to the summit.
