Ascent Trip Report

Matt Janarone's 100th highest. Joe and I met up with Robert, Gordon and Matt. And, had a nice leisurely hike up and Matt's wife Tracy met us up at the summit. She was so proud of Matt. We lingered on this beautiful day and it was nice for me to go back after just having hiked it a month prior for my finish of both Joe's and my hundredth highest. It was a day full of excitement and anxiety that I am not sure I remembered much about the hike so it was great to go back again especially since it was so fresh in our mind. I was a bit honored that Matt chose this one because of the experience that Joe and I had finished on it with so many family members that could join us at the summit! When we met Matt in July hiking up in Maine he asked me what peak I was planning to finish on and I said Equinox, and he tilted his head thinking why such a crowded/easy access/ popular mountain. He is from the great area of the Maine six-pack hard to get to peaks, and because the Hundred Highest have so many peaks that are hard to get to, why finish on something so accessible. Well, after our experience, he decided that it WOULD be nice to share with his wife who has always supported his hiking obsession. He is known in that HH hiking world to be a legend and he is such a nice guy always willing to meet others to get to know the Maine logging roads and always with gentle encouragement and smiling. So it was an honor to have him use my suggestion, and to celebrate his Hundred Highest Finsih on Equinox! Great day!!
