Ascent Trip ReportDay trip climbing Cannon Mountain and hiking out Enchantments. 21 miles, 7900ft gain. Took 18 hours with the extra road walk and snow conditions. Mixed hard snow and rock with some places turning into soft snow on the climb up to Cannon from the Mountaineers Creek route. The cliff band section at 5200ft was wet but snow free and with enough kitty litter we didn't want to downclimb it plus having to pull up through slide alder over wet slabs with snow that was collapsing after that. A lot of the climb up was almost too steep for snowshoes so we alternated between snowshoes and crampons. Got into 3rd+ class rock scrambling on the final 500ft top the summit on the ridge that was a bit tricky finding the path through. Coming out the Enchantments was longer than backtracking and turned it into a longer day but much more enjoyable exit.
