Ascent Trip ReportLong day. None of the pullouts along Kachess Lake Rd were plowed for parking, so we parked at Kachess sno-park and snowshoed up forest road 4934. The sno-park day permit is $20 online. 4934 is snow-covered all the way, but is easy travel for the most part, and appears to get less snowmobile traffic than the standard route up forest road 124. One section is completely ungroomed and crosses a steep basin that could be sketchy in less than ideal avalanche conditions. No views otherwise and the hike is basically a slog. Good for training, I guess, but generally wouldn't recommend unless you really want that home court tick. Took us about 4 hours up and 3 hrs down, 15 miles and 3000 feet with a 1-mile road walk on either end.
