Ascent Trip ReportPlease see below GPX Data and some Pictures of the Hike.
1; San Ysidro Mountain
2; The Thimble
Trailhead at Landmark Lane. Although I reached the Trailhead with a Standard Car it was challenging and slow going. The Hike was easier following a Road at first, turning into a good trail, and later a fainter trail with weaving around brush for best route-finding. A little bit scrambling on Rocks to reach the Highpoint with a Register and Benchmark. Amazing views this later afternoon. Getting down to the Saddle with the Thimble with a relatively easy affair although again weaving around some brush for best route. The challenge begins with the traverse over to The Thimble, which in my opinion was very brushy, slow going and tedious. Once I reached the Thimble I made my way around to figure out how to best get up this Big Boulder. What at first looked promising turned out to be almost impossible as I got up the first Slot and I had to retrieve to find an easier solution. Eventually I found something, which I could climb up with minimal expose and quiet enjoyable. Not so tough after all, just patience and find the right Chute will get you up there. Found a Register but nothing else. On my return I dropped down into a wash and eventually a Flat Meadow where I had to jump a Fence to reach a Road, which lead me back to my Car.
NOTE:As I walked out the Road I passed a couple of Building although meeting nobody there have been a couple of NO Trespassing Signs along the way. Had to go through a couple of Open Gates and more Signs. Was definitely a faster and shorter way back to the Car it might not be legal after All. There is a Closed Gate at the Bottom, which prohibits driving this Road for None Residence. Oh well, I did not see that coming down from Thimble.
Happy Hiking, Josef
