Ascent Trip ReportWanted to take KC on a hike with her healing broken arm. This fit the bill nicely. Took Templin exit off I-5 and continued a few miles to where the paved road is gated. Plenty of room to park here. By the way, a USFS truck driver asked to see my Adventure Pass which I didn't have with me. He didn't ticket me but "reminded" me to have it along on future trips. Started out on paved road after the gate. If I do this again, I will bring a bicycle (skinny tire okay) for this first part of the road, and might also go past the turnoff for the hike and continue up the dam to check it out). After a mile or so there is a gated dirt road on the left. Follow that all the way to the Lookout. Part way up it narrows into a trail. Views are excellent. You can see how the lake was made. The Lookout is staffed on weekends. This was a Wednesday so no one was there but we could walk around on the platform.
