Ascent Trip Report

Parked at Compton Gap and took the AT to the trail intersection with the Compton Peak Trail, turned right, and sought out the high point, which appears to be a rock outcrop not far off the trail. A good bit of snow on the trail lower down made for slippery hiking, whereas higher there was less snow -- perhaps due to sun angle and exposure. Continued on past the summit to enjoy the view from the overlook. Met one guy with his dog not far from the summit, the only other hiker I saw on the trails today, though I did see others in the parking lots. After visiting the first overlook, I followed the other section of the Compton Peak Trail down (south, or east) to see the columnar jointing at the end, then returned.
