Ascent Trip ReportBirthday hike with Nathaniel! Raced a 5k in the am, and then (literally) broke in new hiking boots climbing the peak. In my VERY novice way: 1) wore incorrect socks with boots 2) did not realize there was a concrete path the ENTIRE way up 3) worst blisters ever. (Not starting off well with boots). Live and learn. Nice hike - STEEP climb - and on concrete. Parked at TH off the 67. Alternate route from Lake Poway we may try next time. Steep incline to the peak where the antenaes are. Beautiful Feb day in San Diego! Giant boulders on the way up - saw several groups of rock climbers and individuals bouldering. Went past the peak and down on the dirt trail towards Poway - had lunch on a giant boulder 100 feet or so below summit. Happy Birthday!
