Ascent Trip ReportParked behind Oak Grove Fire station. Picked up trail behind and just north of station and followed the single track over a few stream crossings steeply UP, working for approximately an hour before we met up with High Point Road. From there it was a much easier 5-mile trek to the summit, following High Point Road continually UP. Beautiful hike, snow above 5500 feet and slippery/icy surface on the North Side of the trail where the sun can't shine to melt the ice. Beautiful views of Hale Telescope and Palomar to the West. Baldy, Bernardino, Gorgonia, AND Jacinto all visible. Desert views to the East. Could only find one USGS Survey marker near the remains of what was once a weather observation station. Nice lunch with the hubby at the peak across the saddle from the tower. Hot cocoa made it worth it!
