Ascent Trip Report

There are 41 candidate high point areas for this county, yes, 41. It will require more than one visit to complete, all as per this one only TR - revised accordingly after each visit and numbered a la PB.

VISIT #1 DATED 2011-01-12 .... only went to the main Area 1 plus checked out the area.

AREA 1 ... across a small bayou in a pasture ..... successful, 300 yards, 20 minutes RT.
We traveled west on hwy 90/I49 from Jefferson County to exit 204 at northend of Houma. We made a left turn on Bayou Blue Road (hwy 316) and traveled south .5 miles and parked the car beside the small Bayou on the right...... this main Highpoint area is to the right (west) in a flat pasture.
I walked the road south a short distance and crossed over the Bayou on a driveway, then walked back north in the flat pasture - chose my HP at coordinates 29.67670, 90.74748, one can pick any spot on this flat field.

This part on the County is a huge flat table. We checked out the area looking for obvious high ground, nothing to be seen. We did however see very interesting vertical lift bridges over the Bayou at Houma, houses on stilts and water all over the place. An enjoyable/interesting/nice visit but not in a boring-state-kind-of-mind (???? 41 areas)
Maybe another time??? From here we drove north on hwy 24/20 to Thibodaux and Lafourche County Highpoint.
