Ascent Trip ReportHad a 2 peak day with tagging Fox Mountain and Condor Peak.
Started at the Vogel Flat trailhead at mile marker 4.50. Though the trailhead is unmarked, at the site, it is easy to identify. Trail is in good condition for the 7-10 minute hike to the intersection with the Condor Peak trail. Then you slowly make your way up away from the road on a very nicely conditioned and graded trail.
No issues along the trail. The use trail to climb Fox Mountain is easy to spot, and probably takes 10-15 minutes from the shoulder. The use trail for the final push up Condor Peak is likewise easy to spot, and though a few trails fade in and out along the ridge heading up to the summit, route finding is not an issue.
Perfect day for the trip. Blue skies and temps in the low 60s. A few other groups on the trail but certainly not crowded. The views along the upper portion of the trail are tremendous.
Rough estimate for total distance and elevation gain/loss is 16 miles and roughly 4,000 feet.
8:00 am -- left trailhead
10:50 am -- summit of Fox
12:25 pm -- summit of Condor
4:15 pm -- back at trailhead
Great day in the San Gabriels.
