Ascent Trip ReportParked at the mining area at the north end of the ridge, on the west side. From the parking area I walked south for a mile or so along the desert and then turned left at a characteristic rock outcropping to gain the ridge. There were several difficult or dangerous spot along the ridge crest, but it was always possible to negotiate a way around them and the hike remained class 2. Also quite a bit of up-and-down. At one point one must traverse a 6 ft ledge with a dramatic drop-off at west side. The rock is very sharp the entire way and unless you bring hand- and leg protection, you will have bloodied hands and and legs at the end of the hike, as I did. Great views almost all the way. |
