Ascent Trip ReportI followed Paul McClelland's driving directions and parked where he did. The road to that point has apparently significantly deteriorated since prior reports. There were numerous washouts, some fairly deep. Your Subaru or Honda Pilot ain't gonna cut it out here -- at least not until someone regrades the road. I think it is regraded periodically as the area looks sufficiently popular, so you may get lucky if the timing is right.
Beyond where Paul parked, the road is very eroded on the hills (though the flat areas are fine). I could have driven it in my Jeep very carefully but it would be tedious and slower than walking. I walked.
