Ascent of Devils Chimney on 2021-01-19Date: | Tuesday, January 19, 2021 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Devils Chimney | Location: | USA-North Carolina | Elevation: | 2396 ft / 730 m |
Ascent Trip ReportHeading up the Cook's Wall Trail, the high point of this mountain is a narrow rock "fin" just to the left of the trail when heading out to it's terminus. There's a tad bit of an awkward scramble to get to the top but it wasn't too much trouble. It was clearly the highest thing around.
Later in the day when heading down to Tory's Den and Falls I noticed a huge chimney-like formation that lies much further down the ridgeline from the high point. I can't help but wonder if that is the namesake outcropping rather than this peak. |
