Ascent Trip ReportMy second peak on my Hanging Rock summit adventure.
This peak is a little odd to bag. The old topo map displayed on this website lists "Wolf Rock" as the top of a long ridgeline that lies SW of Hanging Rock. The Gaia GPS app I was using listed this peak as "Cole Gap Mountain" and having been here many times I know the Wolf Rock itself is further down the ridgeline and is not the HP of the mountain. Therefore, I decided to tag the highest points I could find on both the ridgeline and the Wolf Rock formation.
The HP of the ridgeline is just fifteen or so off to the right of the trail when heading to Cook's Wall. It easily able to be spotted as there are piles of dead thorns all around it. The HP is a small rock jutting out of the ground.
I continued down the trail to the Wolf Rock outcropping and scrambled around until I found the highest point of it.
