Ascent Trip ReportMy first summit of 2021!
Bagged this peak heading north along the Uwharrie Trail. Coming from Tower Road, the trail climbs up onto a long ridge then drops into a gap just before the peak. Right where the trail swings to the left I broke up and "bushwhacked" through the open woods to the obvious high point. Rather than re-trace my steps, I opted to descend via an old forest road that descends through a drainage on the north side. The road is pretty steep but easy to follow. From there I hooked up with the Uwharrie Trail which I followed down to Flint Hill Road and the Jumpin' Off Rock trailhead. |
