Ascent Trip Report

On starting this hike, I assumed the Mill Hill Loop Trail went over the top of Mill Hill, but it just went around it. The GPS track shows where I left the Loop Trail (shown as a road on this map) and ascended the steep south slope. After finding the top of Mill Hill, I took the northeast ridge down (as shown on the GPS track) to link up with the Loop Trail closer to the Visitor Center. It was a much easier walk down on a gentle slope. However, I didn't check out the west side of the loop trail, which may have been even easier, with less elevation gain and distance cross-country, albeit more distance on the trail. In any case, it was a good day, and I saw two deer while taking a few photos on top, and I came across many deer trails while hiking cross-country, though they naturally didn't take me any directions I wanted to go.
