Ascent Trip Report

Quick trip up baxter today. The snow was well compacted and there were a handful of spots with ice showing. I was lazy and didn't bother to put on my light crampons for the trip up, though I did have my winter boots on with some nicer traction rather than the usual trail runners. I sat up there in peace for a little while but the sun wouldn't pop through to create a view until I was back at my car. Still it was nice. I decided to put on my light crampons for the trip down since I had them, and in doing so, cruised right down. I definitely noticed the icy spots on the way down more, mostly from my crampons crunching on them. My first winter peak of the new year.
