Ascent of Mount Teneriffe on 2020-12-23Date: | Wednesday, December 23, 2020 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Teneriffe | Location: | USA-Washington | Elevation: | 4788 ft / 1459 m |
Ascent Trip ReportSnow conditions were annoying from the saddle at 3k ft until the summit. Several inches of loose snow over packed dirt/roots/rocks made it very slippery on the way down; it felt like it took as long to descend as climb. The last 30 ft at the top was windswept ice. Crampons or microspikes definitely required (I used spikes but wish I had crampons). View was gorgeous on a clear, blue day, but the sun produced a constant rain of water and snow bombs from the trees. |
