Ascent of Ghost Mountain on 2020-12-19Others in Party: | Nevada Sierra Abby King

Ascent Trip ReportI persuaded Abby to join me for an 8-hour round-trip drive for a couple of small hikes on the outskirts of Anza Borrego SP. Because of the short length of the hikes, I brought the now elderly dogs, Sierra (almost 15) and Nevada (13). Previous reports will get you to the Marshall South trailhead after driving through the Blair Valley campground.
The hike to the South ruins is moderately steep but very straightforward with good trail. After the ruins (which are pretty ruined), it's find a path through the cholla, yuccas, and other assorted desert plants. Sometimes there's a "trail," sometimes not. There's a fun little boulder climb at the end, with the register container on top.
LPC # 72.
After returning to the car we drove over to the HPS Whale Route 1 trailhead and did the easy walk to the impressive petroglyphs. And then the long drive back to the west San Fernando Valley. |
