Ascent Trip Report

From the parking area at the end of Los Alamos Rd, the Hood Mountain Trail (an old road) descends about 400' to cross Santa Rosa Creek before resuming the climb to Hood Mountain. Near a forelorn wooden shack, I left the Hood Mountain Trail and continued on the Summit Trail, passing through the Pygmy Forest (Sargent cypress and knobcone pine) at about 2,200', to the top.
