Ascent Trip ReportUpdate: REGRET REGRET REGRET REGRET REGRET REGRET. Toes feel fine, I feel bad. Next time I ain’t stopping unless that little guy chips off my foot.
Poor choices poor outcomes. Saw 4 cars ahead of me in the lot and assumed the trail would be packed enough for the trail runners. Knowing they’re not waterproof in the least, and were still somewhat wet from yesterday I laced them up and stepped out of my car directly into a puddle ?????
Regardless I moved on. Moved smoothly and quickly, got where the trees thinned and threw on the spikes. Once I pushed up every step was a foot deep into the snow. I trudged on for a while feeling the ice pack onto my shoes and eventually seeping in through my sock. Kept going but eventually hit a point where every-other thought was about how fucking cold my damn toes were. Called it about 1/3mile from the summit and cruised down.
Got some bright red little piggies ?? ready to thaw out. Shit happens, we’ll get em next time. Gorgeous day out regardless.
P.S: Anyone got any recommendations for some good waterproof winter trail runners for packed trails? The Bushidos offer approx. zero protection from the elements.
