Ascent Trip ReportThe turnoff to Parker Mountain is off OR 66 13 miles west of the Green Springs Inn and theMountain View General Store. A sign "Parker Mountain L.O.-2 miles" points toward Parker Mountain. There are no more signs and a confusing network dirt roads unfolds. My National Geographic TOPO map was helpful but far from perfect, and it was only by trial-and-error that I finally found my way to the locked green gate, 1,7 miles from OR 66. Rather than walk the road to the top, I left it as soon as I could see the L.O. and bushwhacked XC to reach the L.O., which is visible from the gate. It is usually staffed during fire season, but not today. The 50-foot tower was built in 1997 after vandals destroyed the old one in 1996.
