Ascent Trip Report

Snow Lakes Trail in and out. I went in on the 30th. Ice on trail in places for the large part of the day. I set camp at Snow Lakes with an overnight permit for the very last day of permit season. Jesse started in early the next morning and got to the campsite by 5:30am.

From the E side of Leprechaun Lake we approached McClellan just to the W of The Prong. Kicked steps in, used microspikes and did take the axes out. Followed the crack up the first section of the 50-degree-angle-ish slab and then hooked around towards the S a bit for the last scramble. Did some digging through a mess of broken rock at the summit to attempt to locate the registry that was there earlier this year. Belief is that the summit was struck by lighting this summer or fall. The summit may actually be a foot or two shorter now since the rock on the furthest N of the summit looks like it was exploded.

We headed to Prusik Pass with the idea of bagging Enchantment peak. Not too far beyond Prusik pass we were hit beautiful colors in the sky and decided to just soak in the sunset and take photos. Then back to Snow Lakes for the night and hiked out in the morning.
