Ascent of Hollingshead Mountain on 2020-10-24
|Date:||Saturday, October 24, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7352 ft / 2240 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI drove in as far as I felt comfortable on FR-81A, but only got in about a mile before consistent rockiness in the road stopped me. I walked FR-81A to the power-line cleared area, then up a steep tack to where it topped out, then up through brush and rocks to the top. The power lines were buzzing, and only time will tell if I have gained superpowers as a result. The hike involves a 140-foot descent from the apex along FR-81A to the power line clear cut.
I had planned to hike to Banfield Mountain as well, but being forced to park farther back prompted me to skip Banfield for another day.
