Ascent Trip Report

I combined this one with Tower Mountain on a one day adventure. Doing all 23 miles with the mass of elevation gain hurt, but, it felt gratifying that I could make it happen. Golden Horn is easy by North Cascades standards. From the Snowy lakes basin, it is easy to gain the ridge, and at the time I did it, an easy climbers trail to follow. The last section near the top some may want a rope for. There are almost no handholds and a good 30 foot of air below the summit block. I used a half rope to rappel and had more than enough to get back down. A worthy goal, but if I do it again I would consider grabbing a camping site at Snowy lakes to save some leg.
